OUTBURN 87 / GUIDES / DISTANCE TIPS

Drive further: the Outburn 87 playbook

Your score is distance, and distance is survival. These are the mechanics that actually decide how far you get.

Know what the game is watching

The difficulty adapts to your recent driving. Stay clean and traffic thickens; crash and the road eases off, briefly. It never goes fully soft: even at maximum mercy there is a decent chance of a tough pattern, so treat the calm as a gift, not a right. The practical rule: after a crash, bank easy kilometres fast, because the road will tighten again as you recover.

Brake like you mean it

Most runs end in a corner that was driven flat-out. The two-finger brake exists for exactly two moments: oncoming traffic weaving into your lane, and tight curves in the faster stages. A half-second brake costs you metres; a crash costs you a heart and your rhythm.

Route through the fuel

Fuel pumps sit by the roadside, which is also where the obstacles live. Line up for pumps early, from the middle of the road, instead of darting at the last moment: the dart is how hearts die.

Use the biome change

A new biome means new sprite shapes and new road colours. The two seconds after a transition are where misjudgements happen, so give the first corner of every new world a little respect.
